Passports (Travel Document) 

 

GENERAL INFORMATION:

All applicants living in France, including children who apply for a Sri Lankan Passport, must do so in person at the Consular Division of the Embassy with required documents and face an interview. 

Applicants living in Spain or Portugal, must personally hand over the application along with the supporting documents to the relevant Sri Lanka Honorary Consulate. In the alternative, the applicant should send all the original documents by registered post. The originals will be returned after perusal.

The Consular Division is open between 09.00 am and 1.00 pm.


PROCEDURE:

The Embassy forwards the applications to the Department of Immigration and Emigration, Colombo. Passports are issued by the Controller of Immigration & Emigration in Sri Lanka. If the application is correctly filled and all supporting documents are in order, the process will normally take around 6 to 8 weeks to issue a passport.


PAYMENT:

Application fees should be paid in cash at the counter of the Embassy and an official receipt obtained. Do not send cash by post. The Embassy shall not accept responsibility for any loss of cash sent by post. The Embassy accepts only cheques certified by the relevant bank and Money order (Mondat Cash). Personal cheques are not accepted.
