Ambassador Buddhi K. Athauda presents credentials to the Principality of Monaco.

Buddhi K. Athauda, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to France with concurrent accreditation to the Principality of Monaco presented credentials to His Serene Highness, Prince Albert II  of the Principality of Monaco on 29th  May 2018 at grand ceremony held at Palais Princier de Monaco.  

During the cordial one on one discussion that ensued, Ambassador Athauda extended greetings of President Maithripala Sirisena to His Serene Highness Prince Albert II and apprised him of the progress made by Sri Lanka in the political and economic fronts including steps taken by the current Government to strengthen democracy, good governance and accountability while creating a conducive environment to boost trade, investment and tourism.

In response, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II conveyed that Monaco and Sri Lanka share greater affinities as small nations where tourism plays a significant role in the economic development. He also expressed his fondness of Sri Lanka and affirmed his support for greater cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the fields of tourism, entertainment and banking.

The Government Advisor & Minister of Foreign Affairs and  Cooperation of Monaco,  Gilles Tonelli,   hosted the Ambassadors who presented credentials to a luncheon, upon the conclusion of the formal ceremony.

Ambassador Athauda was accompanied to the credentials ceremony by Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Monaco William Piccione.
