Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya during her visit to France had occasion to meet and exchange greetings with the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron on 31 March 2025 during the SOS Ocean Conference organised by the French Government. President Macron warmly welcomed the Prime Minister to the Conference and conveyed his greetings to the President of Sri Lanka Anura Kumara Dissanayake. The interest of both #France and #SriLanka to further consolidate bilateral cooperation building on existing synergies, particularly in the context of the Indian Ocean, was reiterated.
Prime Minister Amarasuriya also interacted and exchanged greetings with H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, the former President of Chile and the former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet, and the President of the European Council António Costa who addressed the SOS Ocean Conference.
President Macron delivered the concluding remarks at the Conference. Prime Minister Amarasuriya addressed the concluding high-level segment of the Conference on the invitation of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

La Première ministre, Dr Harini Amarasuriya, a eu l’occasion de rencontrer et d’échanger des salutations avec le Président de la République française, Emmanuel Macron, le 31 mars 2025, lors de la Conférence SOS Océan organisée par le gouvernement français. Le Président Macron a chaleureusement accueilli la Première ministre à la Conférence et a transmis ses salutations au Président du Sri Lanka, Anura Kumara Dissanayake. L’intérêt partagé de la #France et du #SriLanka pour le renforcement de la coopération bilatérale, en s’appuyant sur les synergies existantes, notamment dans le contexte de l’océan Indien, a été réaffirmé.
La Première ministre Amarasuriya a également échangé des salutations avec S.A.S. le Prince Albert II de Monaco, l’ancienne Présidente du Chili et ancienne Haut-Commissaire des Nations Unies aux droits de l’homme, Michelle Bachelet, ainsi qu’avec le Président du Conseil européen, António Costa, qui ont tous pris la parole lors de la Conférence SOS Océan. Le Président Macron a prononcé le discours de clôture de la Conférence.
La Première ministre Amarasuriya est intervenue lors du segment de haut niveau de clôture de la Conférence, à l’invitation du ministère français de l’Europe et des Affaires étrangères.
