The staff of the Embassy officially commenced National Integrity Week today, 27 July 2026, by taking the Integrity Oath/Pledge 2026 during a formal ceremony held at the Embassy premises. The commemoration of National Integrity Week was declared by the government from 27-31 July 2026, under the theme "A Culture of Integrity - A Clean Sri Lanka."
Addressing the staff of the Embassy, Ambassador Sugeeshwara Gunaratna highlighted the key anti-corruption initiatives currently being undertaken by the government. He emphasized that combating corruption requires a comprehensive approach focused on prosecution, prevention, institutional strengthening, and fostering a strong moral and ethical foundation across society through the Clean Sri Lanka initiative.
Ambassador Gunaratna also underscored the crucial role played by Internal Affairs Units (IAUs) established within government institutions. He stressed that building a sustainable culture of integrity relies on the personal commitment and proactive contribution of every public officer. The Integrity Oath/Pledge taken today is a step towards committing every public official to contribute towards ensuring the dignity, transparency and efficiency of the Public Service.
