The Embassy of Sri Lanka in France successfully conducted a Mobile Consular Service on Saturday, 22 November 2025, in Nice for the second consecutive year, to provide consular and information services to the Sri Lankan community living in the south of France.
This mobile consular service enabled the Sri Lankan community residing in Nice, Cannes, Monaco and the surrounding areas to receive consular services without the need to travel the long distance to Paris. The general consular services extended by the Embassy included the acceptance of passport applications, issuance of passports, registration of births, attestation and legalisation of documents, issuance of power of attorney documents, as well as the provision of consular and tourism-related information.
The staff of the Embassy also conducted a series of meetings with members of the Sri Lankan community in southern France, on the sidelines of the mobile consular service. They comprised meetings with community leaders representatives, professionals and Sri Lankan associations, as well as business leaders, and focused on matters of mutual interest in further strengthening the excellent relations between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lankan community in the south of France.
The Embassy staff also visited the Nice Buddhist Vihara and called on the Chief Incumbent The Most Venerable Mapalagama Jinananda Thero, and conveyed their deep appreciation for the support extended in organizing of the mobile consular service in the Nice region. The Embassy also extended its sincere thanks to the community leaders and organizations in Nice, Cannes and Monaco for their steadfast support towards the successful conduct of the mobile consular service.
Minister/Consular Ms. Himali Rathnaweera, Attache/Consular, and staff of the Consular Section of the Sri Lanka Embassy in France participated in the mobile consular service. There is a significant, multi-cultural presence of the Sri Lankan community in the south of France.
