Sri Lankan and Dutch Foreign Ministers resolve to intensify cooperation

Foreign Minister Professor G.L Peiris met with Foreign Minister of the Netherlands, Wopke Hoekstra on the sidelines of the Ministerial Forum for Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific, held at the Foreign Ministry of the French Republic in Paris.

 Several topics were discussed by Minister Prof. Peiris and the Dutch Foreign Minister including cooperation in dairy farming, horticulture, agro-based industry, tourism, initiatives in higher education including the Erasmus scholarships and cultural cooperation, with particular reference to the preservation of heritage sites and cultural artifacts.

The Dutch Foreign Minister complimented Minister Prof. Peiris on his authoritative status in Roman[1]Dutch Law, the subject of his doctoral thesis at the University of Oxford, and his lectures delivered over the years at leading universities in the Netherlands.

 The Foreign Minister of the Netherlands accepted with pleasure the invitation extended to him by his Sri Lankan counterpart to visit Colombo in the near future.
